All their accessories are hand made by Sulin at home. Quite a few times when I went to Mario at his place for piano lessons, I would see Sulin in her own studio designing and putting together her latest piece. Recently their network was hit by a bout of worm infection. After resolving their worm issue for them, we came to realized the settings for their internet enabled DVR was messed up. Just yesterday after a few weeks back in Singapore, Mario gave me a call. I went down to his place to pay him a visit. We had some chat about his home town New York and he was showing me some of the really cool iPhone applications he downloaded on to his phone. During the DVR debugging process, I tried giving the first guy who helped configured his machine a call to seek some advise regarding some technical questions I had on the machine his partner sold to Mario. I found out annoyingly, as Mario has initially said, this person only cared about profit, refusing to even spare a minute to answer some simple questions, insisting we engage in his maintenance service to settle our problems. This is in fact the second case I came across this week, the first case from Vincent another IT startup about his ex-partner. Seriously, in the age of the internet where the flow of information is so liquid, attempting to protect a business operation simply via the use of trade secret is absolutely ridiculous. A person with enough intention could just simply search and retrieve the relevant information in a short span of 5 minutes. The real competition is in the provision of actual value.
